Are lash extensions harmful to natural lashes?

If you have a qualified lash artist who knows what they are doing, then no. We customize each client's extensions based on their natural lashes. It is very important that ONE lash extension is applied to ONE natural lash, and that the lashes being applied are not too heavy. If improperly applied, it will cause damage to your natural lashes. Be sure that you find a qualified, certified, educated lash artist!

How long do extensions last?

Every client’s lash growth cycle is different. It is normal for your lashes to shed 1 to 5 lashes per eye, per day. With that being said, because every lash has an extension on it, during your growth cycle some of the extensions will be shedding with your lashes. That is why maintenance fills are required every 2-3 weeks.

How do I take care of my extensions?

Aftercare is very important to maintain your lashes health and overall appearance. During your appointment lash aftercare is thoroughly explained so you feel comfortable knowing how to take care of your lashes after you leave. We have specially formulated shampoo for our lash extensions that we highly recommend using. Lash retention is 50% the lash artist and 50% the client. Keeping your lashes cleaned and brushed is extremely important! Just like you would take care of hair, or hair extensions, you want to take care of your lash extensions! You will want to shampoo and brush them daily.

Can I wear mascara?

Preferably, no. You will not need it because you will now have long lashes! Wearing mascara can make the extensions clumpy and extremely hard to clean, which can cause damage to the natural lashes and affect retention. If you HAVE too, make sure to avoid waterproof mascara. A lot of clients ask about mascara on the bottom lashes, again preferably no. Every time you blink your lashes on the top and bottom lashes touch, so the same standard applies here as for the top lashes. I typically advise clients to try using a powder eyeliner or water-based liquid liner for definition instead.

Are there products I need to avoid?

Oil, oil and oil. For the first 24 hours you will want to avoid water, sweat and any moisture on your lashes. After that, you will need to avoid oil containing products around your lashes. If you HAVE to use an oil based skincare product, we just recommend being very careful around the lash area. If oil does come in contact with the lash extensions, they will come off so this is extremely important!

What should I do before my appointment?

Prior to your appointment it is advised to avoid wearing mascara that day. If you cannot, please make sure your lashes are completely clean of any product before your appointment. This will help minimize clean up time and give more time for lashing!

How often do I have to get my lashes filled?

Every client is different and every clients natural lashes sheds at different rates. We lose 2-5 lashes per day, so on average we are losing about 21 lashes per week. Lash fills are performed every 2-3 weeks (this will be determined by our lash artist and the client). If lash retention is below 40%-50%, the client will need to pay for a full set. Aftercare is extremely important to maintain healthy eyelashes.
